The “Cuckoo Workshop” (its unofficial name) is almost at the end of Estrada Nacional 109, which begins in Porto, and used to begin right in the middle of Porto, and ends in Leiria. It is so discreet that if you don’t know it’s there, you might easily miss it, but for the lovely old style bikes that are leaned up against it. It’s them that made us stop in our tracks. It was a Sunday, and even so, the workshop was open. We went in and the rest is… a Story of Saudade and Other Things, or rather, it is the Story of Manuel da Silva Silvestre, a metal worker and mechanic who is close to closing the doors for good. That’s what he says, but he’ll probably never give up helping out whoever needs his repair services. Providing a service is a mission for this man.

Now, that question of the bridge that we mention at the beginning of the episode,  Ponte Luiz I and the different treatments given to Gustave Eiffel e Théophile Seyrig… take a look at the map (street view included), and draw your own conclusions!
